For Teachers
For teachers in the 3rd through 6th grades Edgerton Park Conservancy offers an introductory science and environmental tour of the Conservatory of
Tropical Plants in the greenhouses in Edgerton Park.
This includes rainforest plants, desert plants and a collection of tropical plants that provide food and products we use. We discuss the structure and needs of plants with the children. Each child has a hands-on experience learning to pot a plant and then take it home to practice horticulture. We provide a rainforest activities booklet to each teacher as a follow-up to
reinforce what the children have learned in their visit to the conservatory.
There is no charge for this program.
Please ask for a date from Margaret DeVane at 203-624-8941. Then request a bus immediately. When confirmed let Margaret know so docents are scheduled for your day.
Tours last from 10 A.M. to 11:15 or 11:30 depending on your schedule.
Edgerton Greenhouses are located just off Whitney Avenue at 75 Cliff Street at the Hamden - New Haven line.
SUNDAY in the PARK 2012
You and your family are cordially invited to the twenty-fifth annual SUNDAY in the PARK, an English country fair for all ages, on Sunday, September 16, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Edgerton Park, 145 Edgehill Road, New Haven – rain or shine!
As always, all proceeds from SUNDAY in the PARK will be used by the Edgerton Park
Conservancy to restore and maintain our beautiful historic park.
The fair is a fun event, as well as a benefit for the park. It is open to the public, with no admission charge. It features children’s games, music, entertainment, lunch, animals, boutiques, a bake sale, vegetable and flower sales, a silent auction, and much more! This year’s special exhibitions include pony rides, story hour, mimes, stilt walker and jugglers.
Previous success was greatly due to support from the community.
Please, may we count on you again this year to help?
Be a patron, sponsor, benefactor, or underwriter.

Items must be delivered by Saturday (9/15) before the day of the fair from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. to the Carriage House in the Park at 145 Edgehill Road. All contributions are tax deductible.
